Local Area

The hamlet of Croesor and the larger village of Garreg both lie within the parish of Llanfrothen.

The community of some one thousand mainly Welsh speakers has long been recognised not only for its striking architecture and scenery but also for the vibrancy and creativity of its people.

Landscape

The villages of Llanfrothen and Croesor, where the Brondanw Estate is situated, are within the Snowdonia National Park, and the county of Gwynedd. They are surrounded by breathtaking landscape. The iconic peaks of Cnicht, Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Bach form the sides of the narrow U shaped valley of Croesor, and provide a dramatic backdrop to the historic houses of the estate. The Croesor river starts in these mountains, and winds it’s way down the valley, forming several deep pools and dramatic waterfalls. Eventually it joins the Glaslyn on the flat reclaimed land of the Morfa, created when the cob was completed in 1811 in Porthmadog.
